Isn't eucalyptus and peppermint toxic?
There’s a lot of confusion and misinformation online about the safety of essential oils for pets. While it’s true that some essential oils can be harmful to cats and dogs, most negative reactions are caused by synthetic or adulterated oils. When sourced, formulated, and diluted properly, pure, natural essential oils can offer many benefits and are generally safe for pets.
For example:
-
Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus Globulus): When used correctly, eucalyptus is safe and beneficial for dogs, offering flea control and skin relief when applied topically. However, eucalyptus can pose risks for cats, especially those with sensitive respiratory systems, so we do not recommend using products like Remedy on cats.
-
Peppermint Oil: Undiluted peppermint oil is considered toxic to dogs, but when diluted and used as part of an all-natural, pet-safe product like Remedy, it can provide excellent relief for skin and inflammation issues.
Important Note: Every pet is unique, and some may have sensitivities to even beneficial essential oils. If your pet shows any signs of intolerance, we’re happy to help exchange your product or issue a refund.
